Start to Finish: The Benefits of SuccessFactors Early Release
The Release Management process covers your Cloud solution from end-to-end, ensuring the required added value and features are activated after each release deployment. With SAP promoting sufficient time for Testing and Quality Assurance as a market best practice, your configuration and customization will certainly keep working as expected.
What is Early Release?
With Early Release active, you can benefit from an additional 30 days before the production release date to test new features.
What does activating Early Release mean? And what are the benefits?
This means your Test instance is migrated to a different Early Release stack. Quarterly updates will be deployed 30 days prior to Production, unlike in the past, when this took place simultaneously with the Production weekend, without any time for testing universal updates.
Early Release will entail a week of downtime in your Test environment.
From a quality and change management perspective, you will be able to test new features in your Test instance one month prior to Production deployment, and to activate + fix configuration and interface issues.
In the world of ERP, this would seem to be a natural approach in standardizing the SuccessFactors lifecycle. This feature complements the Employee Central synch features and flexible refresh policies, significantly improving the framework for change management within the SuccessFactors platform. However, in terms of deployment and segregation of duties, it is not yet as customizable and complete as Netweaver ERP transports (TMS).
