How to Prepare for the SuccessFactors V12 Upgrade
As you may have already read on the SuccessFactors™ pages and forums, with the August 2015 Universal Upgrades, SuccessFactors releases a required upgrade for all V11 Customers. The V12 upgrade will come with a better performance and an improved look & feel of your SuccessFactors applications as well as new functionalities. This upgrade is mandatory and cannot be declined or postponed after August 2015. If you do not upgrade by August, SAP will automatically upgrade your system.
It is highly recommended to upgrade to V12 before August. Thus, YOU control when the upgrades are applied to your system, giving you time to prepare internally, communicate early, and avoid any potential conflicts with your internal processes.
How to prepare for the August 2015-Universal Upgrade and what needs to be considered?
Whether your organization is upgrading before August or not, the current setup of the system should be analyzed to see:
- Which modules and which functionalities have to be updated?
- How the upgrade impacts company’s templates and forms
- Does the upgrade influence workflows?
- Does my organization has a communication strategy towards HR (administrators), employees, managers, learning academy’s, etc.,
- Which material has to be updated?
(E.g. handbooks, training material, online courses, wikis etc.)
Finally, you should have a good understanding of your company’s needs and the impact this change will have.
Additionally, questions like the following have to be considered:
- How will the users react?
- Will they find all buttons again?
- Will users raise support requests when the look & feel of the system is different?
- How do we handle a large amount of support requests based on the V12 upgrade? Do we need user training?
This means there is a lot of work for HR & IT to be done before the upgrade.

- Admin Tools
