We've become used to digital and mobile tools that make our lives easier. The number of smart phones keeps growing and almost every company, product or service has its own app these days. More and more employees take their own mobile devices to work, and in places such as bars and restaurants, train stations and other public venues Wi-Fi access is available. HR apps are particularly interesting and effective for common processes involving large volumes. What HR app will you be offering your personnel?
I believe the following 3 HR processes will soon be managed on mobile devices.
1. Leave of absence requests: Employees are used to handling their personal affairs using a smartphone or tablet. For HR processes, self-service via a portal is already widely deployed but it would be even greater if these were accessible using mobile devices. Employees agree that it should be possible to submit a request for something as simple as a leave of absence at any time and from anywhere. An app for leave requests lowers the threshold for arranging this timely and rapidly. In doing so, it also extends HR services. It is profitable for the HR department because the more use is made of self service, the lower the (administrative) workload for HR.
2. Expenses: Many employees are out in the field or working flexibly from different locations. As a consequence, declaring business expenses through an app on your smartphone or tablet will be a fact of life shortly. Especially for people on the go, a declarations app is an asset. Employees can scan or take a photo of their receipt and immediately submit their declaration. Approval, verification and payment can then also take place digitally.
3. Reporting: Not every HR manager is a fan of Excel sheets or of manually collecting and comparing different sets of data. Therefore, it will not be long before reporting apps present themselves as a replacement for manual analysis. HR analytics is a hot topic because of the large amount of data that is now integrally available and the added value that this can (strategically) deliver. With a reporting app the manager can bring simple, fast and faultless data sets together. Also, different scenarios can be easily mapped. Questions such as "what effect has a lower absenteeism on the overall effectiveness of my team?" can be answered quickly. By simply clicking and dragging, data is adjusted quickly. Apps offer managers the ability to playfully make use of the data available to them. For example, they can use a tablet in management meetings to access, edit, and update data instantly. As well as easily compose their own dashboards anytime, anywhere. Consequently, having access to the most current data analysis.
