Outsourcing payroll in multiple countries is always a tough challenge for HR and IT directors, even more so when you employ no fewer than 100,000 people across Europe of which more than 30,000 in France. Nevertheless, this challenge was successfully taken by Sodexo a few years ago.
The Sodexo Group, a leader in the restaurant and services industry, decided to align the working practices of its four subsidiary companies at the end of the 90s and to update its systems ahead of the year 2000, given that not all were likely to pass this milestone. This challenge is not unknown to payroll processing in France either.
In a second phase, Sodexo’s payroll administration was outsourced to NGA Human Resources. This project was very challenging due to complex payroll processing in France. The ultimate goal was to reduce costs, to standardize the payroll process and to give HR the opportunity to focus on value-added work.
The first step of the solution offered by NGA Human Resources involved the implementation of an HR and payroll system based on SAP at Sodexo, and the integration of Sodexo's HRIS across all countries. Sodexo's priority during this initial stage was to guarantee the internal maintenance of the application.
“Alongside its commercial competitiveness, one of the key factors which convinced us to choose NGA HR was their leading position in SAP HR with respect to Payroll. It came down to having the best possible consultants in order to maintain a certain credibility with the internal teams, who are themselves experts in the field.”
Michel Foulon VP Strategic Planning & Control and IS&T, Sodexo Alliance Europe
The above solution and the expertise brought by NGA Human Resources helped Sodexo in achieving significant improvements in productivity and quality of its HR system, in reducing HR administration time and costs, and in standardizing and simplifying its HR processes.
